A focused, private freeride day on Asahidake, Hokkaidō’s highest peak and an active volcano. This program is for strong resort riders seeking guided off-piste lines, local decision-making, and high-quality snow—all lift-served (plus short bootpacks), without committing to a full touring day.

Overview
Who it's For: Strong intermediate to advanced skiers/snowboarders with prior off-piste experience.
Location: Asahidake Ropeway (Hokkaidō).
Group Size: Private program for 1–4 guests.
Terrain: Lift-served, in-bounds, and adjacent sidecountry/off-piste terrain accessible via the ropeway and short bootpacks.
Pace: Relaxed yet professional, prioritizing safe snow and smart route choices.
Key Distinction: This is a Freeride program, not a touring program. No skinning is included or planned.
What's Included
Private Guiding: Full-day freeride guiding for your group (1–4 guests) within ropeway operating hours.
Expert Coaching: Guidance on terrain choice, managing volcano/weather nuances, and conservative decision-making.
Safety Focus: Pre-ride safety briefing, equipment check (focus on beacon/comms), and route finding in permissible off-piste terrain.
Qualified Guide:
Strong personal riding skills appropriate to the terrain.
Wilderness medical training (WAFA or WFR).
Extensive local knowledge of Asahidake and the region.
Group Safety Kit: Guide carries first aid, repair, and communication equipment.
Mandatory Helmet: Helmet required for all participants and the guide.
What's Not Included (Essential Exclusions)
Tickets
Ropeway tickets for guests and the guide (guests purchase the guide's ticket at the window price).
Transportation
Guests arrange travel to/from Asahidake Ropeway base station. This product is a meet-at-ropeway program. Transportation is not included. If you require door-to-door transport from the Asahikawa area as part of your experience, please consider our separate “Go With The Snow” program.
Insurance
Personal travel/medical insurance suitable for winter mountain activities in Japan (required).
Equipment
Personal gear (skis/board), avalanche safety kit (beacon, shovel, probe), meals, snacks, and drinks.
Advanced Touring
Full backcountry touring or ski mountaineering requiring skinning.
Avalanche Safety Gear & Requirements
Operating in uncontrolled, off-piste terrain requires mandatory safety equipment for every guest.
Beacon
Modern, fully functional 3-antenna digital transceiver.
Non-Negotiable: Must pass morning check. Non-compliant beacons are grounds for exclusion (no refund).Probe
Standard avalanche probe.
Shovel
Metal-blade shovel.
Backpack
Suitable for carrying all safety equipment and personal gear.
Helmet
Required for all guests (adults and minors).
Rentals & Recommended Gear
Rentals (managed separately from guiding fees and subject to pre-booking/availability):
Avalanche safety kits (beacon, shovel, probe) with backpack.
Suitable freeride skis/snowboards.
Helmets (mandatory; rentals available).
Recommended (Optional): Snowshoes and poles can be useful for certain short bootpacks in deep snow.
